Its March, that means there are some new college scholarship programs accepting applications this month. Awards pop up throughout the year, so unless you’re applying for scholarships regularly, there are many opportunities you may never even become aware of!
Here are some of the largest, most well-known scholarship programs available nation-wide.
- SAMMY Scholarship – Scholar Athelete Milk Mustache of the Year
The SAMMY award is provided annually to a senior in good standard who is active with a school sport or club sport during the current school year. If you’ve got good grades, are active on the team, and you haven’t been in any legal troubles, this scholarship can provide 25 students with $7,500 for college costs. All you need to do after meeting the requirements is stage a good photo of a milk mustache. This is kind of a fun award, but remember, they’re looking for accomplished and ambitious students.
Learn more about SAMMY here: http://www.bodybymilk.com/
- Hispanic College Fund –
Last year, the Hispanic College Fund (HCF) awarded more than $2 million worth of scholarships to more than 600 students nationwide. This year, applications are being accepted until March 15. Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents, and students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a flat 4.0 scale.
Otherwise, students from all underrepresented groups are welcome to apply here: http://scholarships.hispanicfund.org/applications/subsectionid.1,pageid.10/default.asp - Tzu Chi Foundation Award
This scholarship provides $1,000 to a graduating high school senior who demonstrates financial need and general academic potential. The application requires a few letters of recommendations and a short biographical sketch, and more information can be found at the application form
Unfortunately, its not possible for me or any individual to post information about every single scholarship – simply because there are literally hundreds of thousands of programs announced and awarded every year. To keep up to date of all the awards you personally qualify for, make sure to check out all the other free resources available like Fastweb, ScholarshipExperts, and Scholarships.com!
