I’ve written before about how you can save money for college with Upromise – that is, you can earn some cash-back rewards on every day purchases. Of course, the first piece of good news is that registration doesn’t cost anything and you’ll never be charged for anything other than the groceries and gas and whatever everyday stuff you buy with the registered credit or debit card.
To make things even better, they’re offering a limited time promotion between now and February 28, 2009 members of Upromise will be eligible to register and apply for a scholarship. Winners aren’t just picked at random either, they’re selected based on a combination of academic merit and financial need.
200 students will receive $2,500 – not a bad deal from a free service that can help you earn even more money for college tuition or to pay back student loans!
Is it Legit?
Completely. Upromise has over 10 million members nation-wide and most are completely satisfied with the service. They’ve been around for eight years helping students save money for school, by every expectation they should be around for even more than that into the future. Did I mention it is free?
Will it Help You?
This depends on your current spending habits! Its probably not a good idea to rush out and buy things you normally wouldn’t buy, but take a look at the sponsors listed at the Upromise page and see if there are products and services that you’d be buying anyway. Maybe if they’re things you don’t normally buy, they’re things that someone in your family does: You can have multiple cards from multiple people registered for the benefit of a single student.
So, if you spend a few minutes registering and learning about how the plan can help you, you probably won’t regret the extra money that eventually gets back into your pocket! If you spend a little extra time applying for the scholarship and getting some friends and family members involved, you’ll probably earn a nice little bit of free money to help out with the ever-rising costs of school.
