August is almost here, and that means not only is it time to start thinking about grabbing your textbooks and finalizing arrangements for the next semester, it is also one of your last chances to apply for scholarships that disburse funds before the next tuition bill comes due.
If you’re looking for a complete list of scholarships and aid programs that you’re individually eligible for, be sure to check out the free service at Fastweb to find available funding sources. Once you’ve set up your personal profile, they’ll match your information to the database of awards they’re researching and you’ll see exactly what programs are out there for a student just like you. Parents, you know what your kids are up to also, so if you want to help them get started you can show them a list of sources of free money and let them take it from there!
Now if you’re in an absolute rush and you need to apply for the first award you see and you’re always fighting against the last minute deadlines, check out these nationally recognized awards that close in August 2010. There aren’t a whole lot of awards with general eligibility this month, so if you want a more comprehensive list you’ll have to check out some of the profile-based databases or a key-word based scholarship search engine.
- On August 5th, College Week Live is hosting an online event and if you register by then and participate in the live virtual session on that day you might just be selected to win a $1,500 scholarship award. It sounds like the information of the Back to School Day might be worth your attention anyway, so you might as well take part and have that chance of winning free money for school!
- Scholarship Experts is offering the Do Over Scholarship and all you have to do to apply is fill out a short essay about one decision or event in your life that you would like to do over if you theoretically had the chance. Five students will win $1,000 in free college aid – so be sure to write an essay that stands out and demonstrates the lessons you’ve learned with age & experience. Applications are due on August 31st.

Do the last part about writing an essay really apply in applying for scholarship grants? Because if not, there are over 1,000 grant programs offered by 26 federal agencies such as the Department of Education that you can apply to. It is advisable to plan ahead and apply early though.

The article seems to be short and simple, but its essence will be discovered once you go on reading. I find it as informative as other scholarship and grant articles. What sets it apart from others is its keyword-based scholarship search engine link. I tried to enter left handed scholarships and it provided me with multiple relevant results. This unique feature of the article makes it a more effective tool to share scholarship information with interested parties. With the tips provided at the latter part, I can also say that this article is a good preparation for any scholarship application.

Hello, my name is Gabriel Emery, and I am a current student at Mid-America Nazarene University. This fall will be the start of my second year, and I will need help upon returning as I am currently on acedemic probation. This is due to having to pay bills, work two jobs with no means of transportation, full-time school, and school payments. I am a very hard worker and take my education very seriously, and by recieving this scholarship it would enable me to fully focus on my studies, get back into good acedemic standing, and become closer to acheiving my degree in higher education. Please consider me for your scholarship as it wont be wasted or taken for granted.
Thank You,
Gabriel Emery
