Summer is winding down and that means its time to think about college again – especially paying for the costs of school.  As campus activity picks up again, many schools will be providing applications for their own internal scholarship programs, so be sure to check with your college’s financial aid counselors and scholarship administrators to get an idea of the institutional awards available to you.

In addition to that, be sure to sign up for the free profile-based scholarship searches at Fastweb and other websites to find even more college scholarships that you’re eligible for.

Now, September is a little bit of a slow month for scholarship deadlines this year, but there are a few awards with wide eligibility coming due. Be sure to check these out!

  • Shout it out scholarship – Answer a short essay question and you could be awarded as much as $5000 for college tuition and expenses.  While you’re there, take a few minutes to check out other scholarships you’re eligible for in your member profile.
  • Zinch also has a few different scholarships with September deadlines.  In total, there are six of them ranging in value from $555 to $5,555 in free money for college.

All U.S. students are eligible for these scholarship awards, and as I mentioned you can find even more specific awards to match your personal profile if you look around the results after you’ve registered at Fastweb, Scholarship Experts, Zinch, or any of the other free scholarship communities.  Also, if you want to search for awards based on specific personal attributes, you can check out our own modified scholarship search engine.

Even if you’ve already paid your August and September tuition bills, its still a good time to find more scholarships and keep applying.  These funds can be used for the next semester or even to reduce the amount of student loans you end up taking out to make ends meet.  Good luck!

I was born in 1986 in Sudan,Africa in small village called Koch.I’m third born child in family of six children.I grew up in my mother ‘s care who made me to believe who I am today .She gave me every things I needed but she forgot to take me to school because she herself never gone to school .Both my parents and siblings were illiterate except me because non of them have gone to standard 1 not even to write their name

The longest and deadly war in Sudan broke out in 1983 between North and South .The North is occupy by Arabs and the South by Christians. The war has left many thousands of people displaced and almost 2.5 million dead. The country is full of orphanages widows ,widowers and war-veteran and amputees.
The war came to an end in 2005 when Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed between Omar al Bashir and John Garang de Mabior.

I moved out of my country when my village was raided and looted by soldiers who killed my father and my two younger brothers.I escaped with group of people who were heading to Uganda border which was safe by then.We were receive by United Nation for Higher Commissioner for Refugee in Nimule refugee camp with warm welcome. But life in refugee camp was not easy.It is heel and chaotic. You are not always free to exercise your rights and freedom. Your life is always in constant fear.My motto is that ” never ever shall my children be subjected to life of refugee”
I stayed there in Nimule refugee camp for 2 years. In January 9 1999 the camp was attacked by Lord resistance Army lead by Joseph Kony from Uganda and we were forced to trek for 17 days to Lokichogio Kenya. From there we were picked by UNHCR and transported to Kakuma Refugee camp.I resided for 10 years in Kenya as a refugee and life is not simply.life without parents is very painful. In Kenya I thought it will be safe for me compared to Uganda border. my life was characterize by rationing of basic needs, food, cloth and shelter. Water which is very important commodity in life of human being, drugs and school materials were rationed.security was poor and our life was at a stake
I remember bad incident which happened on 23 .June. 2003 when local men armed with guns fought with refugees.17 refugees were killed and there was no question from government of Kenya. When I think of it I feel very sick and hated my mother who brought me into this cruel world.I wish I had never been born.No freedom of movement and worst of all you are confine in one place
I started my education in a Refugee Camp.My dreams and ambitions were to become a professor /lecturer or teacher in future. what I wanted was quality education because people of my area are not aware of the important of education .The little knowledge I acquired in school has taught me the goodness of the education ,making of new friends ,interactions of students from different ethnic background thus eliminate hatred. My prayers were answered in 2003 when I was granted a scholarship after my primary level by Jesuit for Refugees ((JRS), a catholic organization. The scholarship was short lived ,secondary level only.I completed my secondary education in2007 with 65% mean grade. I was very happy for scoring such a marks.Since then I have been out of school for lack of money . I have tried every means but all in vain.I’m desperate of money. If I’m granted a scholarship to pursue my education in Africa or part of the world, then I have no option. Upon my graduation if I’m granted a scholarship, I hope to help my continent, country , my people and the whole world to the best of my interest.
    Thanks
