I just received an email about a scholarship that I’d like to pass along! The deadline is coming up really soon (January 31st to be precise) so there isn’t much time left to apply. That said, if you’re a Hispanic high school senior or know someone who is, be sure to read on and find out how you can apply for this financial award:

Jan. 2010 – Walmart and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) are reminding high school seniors planning to attend college in the Fall of 2010 to submit their application for this year’s scholarship before the January 31 deadline. An online application, along with additional educational resources and information, can be found at www.hsf.net/walmartscholarship.aspx.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)/Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. High School Scholarship is available on a competitive basis to graduating high school seniors of Hispanic heritage in select locations. Students must be enrolled full-time as first-year freshmen during the 2010-2011 academic year. Awards are in the amount of $2,500.

Eligible scholarship cities include: Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis/Twin Cities, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. Full scholarship eligibility requirements can be reviewed at www.hsf.net/walmartscholarship.aspx or by calling HSF at 1-877-HSF-INFO

If you’re eligible for this award, then you should also look in to some of the other Hispanic Scholarship Fund programs with deadlines in February 2010. Free money is available for students in most majors and there may even be multiple awards you’re eligible to apply for – because that can only improve your odds of being selected to receive financial assistance.

Its usually not a good idea to wait for the last minute before applying to a scholarship, but its still true that late is better than never! As long as all the application materials are completed by the end of this month, you’ll still have a chance of being selected for free money!
